To fix this dilemma, Barry Allison founded Ski Connexionsa company who specializes in boot fittings so skiers can get the best performance out of their boots, without suffering in agony. Operating his business out of Whistler Village Sports located in the centre of Whistler Village, Barry emphasizes that skiing is much about comfort as it is performance. Over time, he believes there has been a disconnect between the two, but in truth one can be just as comfortable AND get great performance out of their boots— what a revelation!

Allison, a full time ski pro for 29-years began his skiing career in the Ottawa area around 1987. It wasn’t until he got his CSIA (Canadian Ski Instructors Alliance) level III in 1990, he decided it was time to move west! After working as a full-time trainer and supervisor with the Whistler/Blackcomb Ski School and then obtaining his CSIA Level IV in 1995, he switched to dual career paths working both in the ski school and also in a local ski shop fitting boots. It was here Barry came to the realization that proper boot fittings were the key element to great ski performance. Not before long, Barry moved home to Ottawa to develop what is now Ski Connexions and after 20-years of specializing in boot fittings, Barry is celebrating his third year operating the company out of Whistler Village Sports.

‘Ski Connexions’ was the most authentic name for the company for a number of reasons. For one, your boot is the primary connection to your ski and without this connection your performance on the mountain will be affected immensely. Secondly, throughout Barry’s career in the snow, he built a number of friendships which will last a lifetime. Finally, strictly training with Ski Connexions is the key to improve your connection and performance on the mountain.

Over the years, Barry has dealt with a number of customers who were ready to give up on skiing altogether, due to the pain they were experiencing from their current boots. But, after thorough education on properly fitted boots he was able to persuade his customers on giving skiing one more shot. To Barry, “Getting those guys back out on the snow, comfortable and skiing is a real positive for [him].”

Lastly, whether you are currently in the market for new ski boots, or if you are thinking of quitting skiing altogether, make sure you head over to Whistler Village Sports. After examining your feet, Barry will make sure you are back up the mountain in no time with properly fitted ski boots and comfortable feet once and for all!
