Westside describes the road that connects you from Alpha Lake to Alta Lake, Whistler Creek and then Alpine Meadows. Homes along this area have stunning Valley Views, great mountain biking trails and often will benefit a private dock, giving you lake access.
Westside Road has some very old little cabins mixed with beautiful monster homes. Though, most of these homes state they're on the "waterfront"—they're actually not. Instead, they have views from Alta Lake Road overlooking Alta Lake but the train tracks run below the lots, cutting them off from the water. Nevertheless, many homeowners have put in their own private docks across the train tracks and on the water's edge.
A few minutes drive down the road will bring you to the well renowned Rainbow Park, the Whistler Cemetery and the Stonebridge neighbourhood. Homeowners in this area should keep in mind Alta Lake Road is used as an alternate route to get to Alpine Meadows if the highway is backed up/there is an accident.
Brian Evans gives you his perspective on owning a home on Alta Lake/Westside Road area of Whistler:
We were really drawn to the lakeside aspect of the Westside Road area. True, it's quite a bit further to drive to the Village from that side of Alta Lake but we wanted the secluded feel and we also wanted to have views of the water with Blackcomb in the distance. That's always been key for us and waterfront is hard to come by in Whistler.
