A question I get asked all the time is: When is the best time of year to sell? There are definitely seasonal differences in Whistler property sales. We know during certain times of the year, there are more homes and condos that sell, and there are more buyers in the marketplace. During other times of the year, there are less homes that sell and fewer buyers in the marketplace. So when is the best time to list your Whistler home or condo? Well, my response is always the standard cliche realtor answer. Now is the best time to sell. It's true but let's dig into why.
Winter
Well, winter is a great time to list your property because there's a lot of visitors here on their ski vacations and we sell a lot of property to folks who have fallen in love with our beautiful mountains and want a place here.
Spring
Spring is a pretty good time to sell too. Winter is over and you might be done with your property for the year so let's get it on the market. There are probably a lot of buyers who know there will be more inventory in springtime and have been waiting for a condo just like yours to come available.
Summer
Well, summer is great too because you want to sell your property before buyers get the kids are back into the school year. There's a ton of buyers in the marketplace in the summer, and it's really the best time because buyers are here for hiking, golf and the bike park. They usually want to get a Whistler property under contract before the kids go back to school.
Fall
What about fall? Fall is great too because we all know that there are lots of buyers who want to purchase a Whistler home or condo before ski season hits and the clock's ticking!
The Right Answer
A good Whistler realtor can make a fantastic argument for you listing your property for any time of the year. We've been keeping statistics on the Whistler real estate market since the early nineties and honestly, there's really no trend to it.
So the best time for you to sell your Whistler property is when you're ready to sell. A lot of sellers don't want to go through all the trouble of doing improvements on the property, staging, showing their home, and going through inspection and having an appraisal.
